Category Blog

Greeff Christie's International Real Estate has firmly established itself in the Western Cape which is a premier destination according to the South African tourism industry. According to Stats SA, Cape Town is South Africa’s leading tourist destination and contributes around 3% to the Gross Domestic Product. Greeff Christie's International Real Estate has created Greeff Leisure as a specialised division to directly handle sales relating to the hospitality sector, including Guesthouses, Restaurants, Bed & Breakfasts, Inns, etc.

Mike Greeff, CEO of Greeff Christie's International offered his thoughts on the industry, "The leisure and tourism sector has proven itself as a mainstay of the economy and is currently responsible for around 700 000 jobs. Entrepreneurs that find themselves in the industry are very hands-on with their business and are prepared to go great lengths to protect it. We understand their concerns and can guarantee the highest levels of empathy, discretion and confidentiality."

Greeff Leisure is headed by the dynamic duo of Dan Pienaar and Ursula Edwards. Dan and Ursula have extensive experience in hospitality, residential and commercial property, with Dan focusing on the Southern Peninsula and Ursula focusing on the Southern Suburbs. They have a wealth of experience in the industry and have a working knowledge of what it takes to make it in the leisure sector. Dan has spent many years in the real estate industry and is well-versed in the leisure and hospitality division and Ursula Edwards has spent the past 17 years in the guesthouse sector and has bought, run and sold her own Guesthouses.

With the tourism and leisure sector recording steady year-on-year growth it is impressive to note that according to Cape Town Tourism, despite the increase in available accommodation in both the formal and informal sectors there are currently more than 15 000 accommodation units listed on Airbnb for Cape Town. This is an excellent indicator of the significant demand for space in Cape Town. WESGRO puts the number of international arrivals for December 2017 at 127 309 which is a respectable 11.5% increase from the previous year. Cape Town Tourism says that the best performance for both occupancy and Average Room Rate was recorded in February 2017, which is expected as February is a peak month for international leisure tourism and business tourism to Cape Town.

Greeff Christie's International Real Estate is your perfect partner when it comes to all aspects of buying or selling a property in the hospitality sector and guiding you through a successful property transaction. Whether you are looking to buy or sell a Hotel, Guesthouse, Bed & Breakfasts, Lodge or Backpackers, a special skill set is required with regard to finance, legal compliance, zoning, and council regulations.
