According to a Cape Argus report, Rondebosch is considered one of the safest suburbs in the Cape Peninsula. In the greater scheme of things, buying a home in Rondebosch is a long-term investment and you are essentially purchasing your ''forever home'' but should you wish to sell, you are almost always guaranteed a return on investment because Rondebosch will always be a sought-after suburb.
The rental market is also booming in Rondebosch because of the abundance of students. Every year, there is an influx of students who need accommodation and as a result, rentals are always needed. Mark Burt, Rental Manager for Greeff Christie's International Real Estate says that ''there is a rush between November, December and January when students are scrambling for accommodation'' but it usually gets back to normal by February when the first semester is in full swing. Rentals, according to Burt, range from ''R10,000 a month for an apartment and R21,000 for a free-standing house''. An apartment can house 1 - 2 people and a house about 3 - 4.
